Yeah, they can be beasts even at a very young age. I bought three less than 1" jags to grow out for my 135, so I could choose the biggest male and return the other two to the LFS. I had them in a 20 gallon. Well, within a week my choice was made for me. One killed the other two. I don't know how they were coexisting in the LFS tank. Maybe because there were so many others and other species...
I just recently lost 1 of 8(in the 2.25-3 inch range) to aggression in a 75gal...not that its a huge tank but I see now that it probably would have happened sooner in a smaller tank...I had been seeing some sparring and torn fins for a while before...as juveniles they will kill each other in the fight for dominance...how many more if any are in there?...
