Curious about the topic question and has anyone else ever seen Jag oscar offspring? I got a new O today and the O and my Jag have REALLY hit it off. Geeze they look like they have been best friends for life lol

what sizes? mine used to be friends till the jag got a little bigger, then watch out.

Well here's the story, Ive always love O's but I could never keep them because my Black Shark would always kill them. After years of the same fish I rehomed my Shark today (for a $60 rehoming fee hehe) so I could do something a little different, went to pet smart and snagged the biggest O I could find and then a smaller O. The larger is probably 7 inches which is about an inch short of the jag. Anyway now that the Shark is gone (by the way I thought he was only about 16 inches, we measured him in the icechest we put him NINTEEN INCHES!!!!) Ive got a 13-14 inch Devil who is the undisputed king of the tank so he goes over and chases the new O around a bit when I first dropped him in and the Jag knowing that he is no match for the Devil jumps in front of him multiple times almost as if he is giving the devil another target to chase instead of going after the O! Amazing behavior. Good news is the Devil was probably just letting the new guys know who was boss, he has completly lost interest in the O's and the Jag and the larger O have been just swimming around togeather side by side ever since and I swear if they had hands they would be holding hands lol Im so happy, the new O's are really blending in well. Even my smaller devil (9 inches) went over several times to check out the new guys, no agressive movements, no nipping just almost like he was saying hello! Yeah!!!!!!!!!!

I don't think Oscars can produce with anything but Oscars.

And about the bigger mouth...Jag ftw.
Agreed.

Glad to hear things are going so well with the new Oscar.

Jags have massive mouths, even larger than Oscars.

Jags have bigger mouths and is more aggressive.........

No question the jag has a bigger mouth.

there is no chance of offspring resulting from that cross, although they can just pair off, which just looks odd
