Mile High in Northern AZ, baby!~
I have a thread I started called "zennzzo's Jag's". It started out as a thread about a new pair of Jag's and turned out to be a spawn!!

My main question is;
How long do Mom and Dad quit eating for?

They are very good parents in the way of scooping the fry and returning them to the back of the clay pot where they hatched at, but they haven't eaten for 3-4 days before the spawn and still haven't ate a single thing yet as of today...

Cool Pics! Parents with fry are always awesome to watch.

Their parental instinct to protect their brood supresses their instinct to eat. (If they wre hungry, what do you think would be first on their menu!!!)

If you want to raise the fry, siphon out 90% into a separate aquarium and feed finely ground flake food. Filter their aquarium with a sponge filter. (Never 100% because one parent will look at the other parent and they ate the spawn; and the female tends to take the worst of it.)

They should start eating after the brood is free swimming.

I was going to try and raise the fry with the parents, kinda natural like...
I know it is in an aquarium and all,
but,
I am moving the whole family, decor, etc into a 225g with sponges on both intakes of a Eheim 2180 and a pair of sponges with powerheads...

My intentions were to have them in the 225 before the spawn, but I guess the conditions were right, and they didn't wait.:D

I am hatching Brine shrimp as we speak, so as soon as the brood become free swimming,
I should be able to catch the 8 hour window when the Brine shrimp still have their egg sacks, and my turkey baster and hose will go into action...

I also have Hikari first bites and some Hikari guppy chow as well...

Is it necessary to remove them from the parents now?
I understand it is necessary to remove the fry before the next spawn because the fry will consume the newly hatched eggs...

Here is the other thread I started...
