My female is plump with eggs but the male just seems very aggressive towards her now.

They spawned once a few months ago but I never removed the fry and they're gone but some reason the male is overly aggressive to her once I stop watching them and I see that she's getting beat up. I divided the tank with a divider and whenever I let them be together he just shows aggression and nips her alot.

U need to make a love door in the divider just the right size where the male can not get thru but the female can. They will spawn agin when the female is ready he nips at her to try and force her to lay eggs just be pactiant .lol

get a few dither fish, to minimize the aggression towards your female.. the dithers wont last long at all, but may reduce the behavior towards the female for some time.

Thanks for the tips, I have a clear acrylic sheet as the divider I am not sure if she'll be smart enough to actually see the opening...

get some egg crate dividers it will also keep the water flowing right.

Is my female a glutton for punishment or this is how the males are. For a few days they actually got along together great as if they were defending their spawning spot then all of a sudden the male starts chasing her and beats her up. I've divided them again and seems like the female wants to be by the male every time I seperate them.

I see a little spout like fleshy thing protruding from her abdomen like last time when she laid eggs but she hasn't yet. I also remember last time he also beat her up pretty bad before she laid eggs. i don't know, if i put them together again, she'll probably die...She's always in bad shape when I divide them and then after I seperate them she's normal again.

They're divided now and I'm not sure if I want to keep them if he's going to be that aggressive. I wonder if male is *** or something...breed already...it seems to be the male that doesn't want to...

I usually keep my pair separated by an egg crate divider at all times except when the female is about ready to spawn again. They maintain their bond because they can see each other through the egg crate at all times. When I remove the egg crate they display aggression and fight and then spawn again. If they get too aggressive toward each other before the eggs hatch I divide them again with the female with the eggs. The male still cares for the fry and eats none when they get across to his side because he sees everything going on continues to display with the female through the barrier. I get a spawn about every 6 weeks this way, and I usually remove the last spawn babies as I let mom and dad back together again. By the time I do that they both seem to have less interest in their last spawn and are thinking about the next one so they go at it fast.
