Changed the pellets i give my fishes from an unknown brand pellets to hikari golds a couple of weeks ago. All the other fishes in the tank had no problem eating the new pellets but my jags somehow didnt like the new brand. they gobbled the old one but the hikari's they just take a few bites and crush the pellets then spit it out. eventually they will eat a few pieces but they never fill up like they did with the other brand. any tips to entice them in eating the new pellets?

i'm feeding them the small sized ones but since they didnt want to swallow it, i bought the baby pellets but still the same result...the jag is also 4" long and easily eats a whole cube of frozen bloodworms in one gulp. i dont think it's the pellet size at all

Tbh just do what your doing is my advice I switched pellets on my fish a while ago and they didn't eat it. so I just kept feeding them everyday and they eventually had no choice. Kinda like starving them, but still feeding them lol

from my experience with them, i did the same exact thing, they are stubborn and picky. He'll get hungry, then have no choice. Keep on dropping them in there, he'll eat them sooner or later.

my problem is that it's been a couple of weeks since i made the change. they eat a little but not like they used too. how about seachem garlic guard? would that work?

Try Hikari Cichlid Gold +. It has garlic in it and is for carnivorous species. Just give it a little while and they will accept it.....keep it mixed up so they don't get stubborn.

Try the NLS with the garlic in it. In the end they will give in sooner or later. Cichlids are probally the least fish that will starve itself.

lets see the tank!!
