Hi all, i'm after some advise/comments on recent changes in my Jaguar's behavure.

I've had my Jaguar for 6 years now, got him when he was only a couple of inches long. He's always gone through occasional phases of moving the stones round his tank, completely randomly and normally spitting them on top of the pleco he's shared with all that time! When the gravel's been cleaned and smoothed back out he's never been too fussed.

Over the last few months however, he's taken to completely clearing one end of the tank down to the glass bottom which he's never really done before. Always in the same place, spends most of his time hanging around in that area and get's a bit p*ss*d at me when i smooth it back over. I did add some Silver Dollars to the tank a couple of months ago but he started this before they arrived and seems to tolerate them more than any other fish he's lived with, he even picks on the Pleco less now.

Is this change in behavure normal or is it indicating something else? He still seems healthy and his appitite is as strong as ever (also still enjoys dumping the stones on the Pleco!)

this is normal, hes just re-arranging the tank to how he wants it, cichlids are well known for this and do it all the time.

he could have started doing this either because you may have moved around decor and he likes this spot now or he has just taken a liking to this one spot.

anyway, its normal and theres nothing wrong with him.

Oh well. planning on a tank up grade for him so i'm sure the grumpy g*t will be thrilled with that! Any creative thoughts on what i could get to live with him in his new home? (and won't eat my Silver Dollars!)

he is a beauty... and yes perfectly normal.. he wants it his way...:D

how big are you upgrading to??

possibly house him with a male Freidrichsthalii or Motaguense.

lots of possibility, depending on tank size tho.
