You are so lucky! I have been looking for one for two years and nothing. I don't know much about them and not many do. G.L with him. And most cats don't like the light's so I wouldn't sweat it. As far as him not coming out you should get some moon lights for your tank that may help you catch him out and about. Post pics PLEASE when ever you can.

yeah you're right i am lucky cuz its damn beautiful... they only received 1 and i had to get it. id love to post pics if only it would come out n swim for a bit.im a bit new to this so gimme a bit more info on the moon lights plz...

You can goggle them to get more information about where you can purchase them but our local Petsmart carries them so you may be able to find them on there site. G.L.

It's a basic Small High Illuminaing bulb and light about 1'' - or less in daimeter. They shine in different colors like Red and Blue etc.. pretty nice on any cat tank imo. But let us know if you find it and how you like it!

And can't wait until you post pics! I have a pic of one. Just don't have permisson to post on this site!!!!

I recently got one as well. He is about 6". They are nocturnal and mine will not even come out if the lights in the room are on, let alone the tank light. If I wake up in middle of the night, I will see it swimming all over the place.

I believe they max out around 10"

2 days ago i closed all the lights in my room to go to sleep and i heard a wierd noise and i had no idea where it was coming from so i just ignored it. the night after same thing happened... randomly i was surfing the web and i find this:

"If you hear strange sounds from the aquarium at night, it is probably not ships meeting in deep fog – it is Jaguar catfish trying to stake out their territories. Rivaling the Jaguar catfishes will rotate the spines of their pectoral fins at the base; thereby producing a sound somewhat similar to a foghorn or tuba"

pretty crazy!!
any1 else know more bout this? does it get lounder when the catfish gets bigger?!

Haven't heard it from mine yet, but it did keep my up all night banging into the HOB filter. It was trying to swim up into it :screwy:
