My lfs said he was gonna get them in, Are these guys as aggressive as the name sounds or is it just the coloration? he showed me some pictures from a book and it's a very colorful looking cat and doesn't seem to get overly huge. Anyone have these at home? book said they get about 2' is this accurate? I'm gonna double check with him on the scientific name, But i've never heard of a different jaguar catfish before.

Thought I knew what fish you were refering to until you mentioned the 2' part, now I'm not sure.

The book we pulled the picture from is notorious for getting everything but the correct adult size right. I've heard everything from 6" which sounds way to small? to 2'. It is Liosomadoras Oncinus. It's bad when you have you lfs on your top 5 friends list. though if tehre is one thing I've learned is adult size for most fish is way wrong 'cept from people who've kept them.

Adult size is 10", but I have never seen one that big. They are not aggressive but will eat smaller fish.

I have 2 which are 6", rarely see them, need lots of hiding places, like bogwood ect.

could be a marble pim. they grow to 2' in size.

so it's pretty and smaller, bonus. but they are pretty much always hiding?

highly doubt it's a marbled pim. unless the distributor gave him the wrong name. possible. BUt won't know 100% until they come in. he's selling them for 20$ if that helps at all.

very possible it's not an actual jaguar they are usualy very expensive $20 seems low. my store once ordered "jaguar cats" in and got a totally different species of driftwood cat. the true jaguar rarely comes out of hiding.

Thanks guys/gals. I think I'm gonna wait until he gets them in before putting money down to hold one for me. Otherwise if they are true jags thats a good price on them?
