jaguar cichlid and silver dollars

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
i wouldnt.. it would prob not work out.. you prob need a min 125 long to make room for the silver dollers to get away from the jag...

I had 5 SD's in a 75 with juvi Jag and they stayed in the top corner of the tank all the time. I moved them to a 75 with a JD and Clown Loaches and all is well now. So, probably not.

You need the big solid ones like Red Hooks, Schomburkii or Rubripinnis. And you need a small shoal. Four or more will do. These fish are tuff. They take a beating and keep commin back for more.

yeah in a bigger tank that would be fine but a 75g is definitely too small, you could maybe keep a female jag by itself in the 75g, but really if i had a 75g and wanted a nice robust wet pet i would go for a midas cichlid, those guys are great and personable and would be good in that size tank, a male jag needs a 120g tank IMO to be comfortable (could do a pair in that size tank as well, if its the 5ft version, i wouldnt try a pair in anything less than 5ft)

I'm with Sarah on this one, especially if you get the larger growing varieties of Silver Dollars. Five large Silver dollars and a large Jag in a 75 isn't going to work. An adult Jag needs more room. Try a Midas or a Green Terror with some other schooling fish that won't get too big.
