i got this what I think is a female jag yesterday from the LFS. It was a trade in. With good water parameters and quality color enhancing foods, do you think I could get it to really color up? I’ve seen them with the bluish green fins and darker black markings. The black markings looked washed out and fins are kinda dull. What are y’all a thoughts?

fullsizeoutput_2af.jpeg It just looks like stress colors to me, and could be due to the dark substrate. Many cichlids instinctively try to blend with the color of the substrate, when under the stress of being moved to a new tank
In nature the most common predators of managuense are birds, so blending with the substrate, would seem quite normal to me.
