Jaguar Cichlid Growth Rate?????

Under ideal conditons what is the growth rate of a Jag????

I just bought two 2" Jags from the lfs. Ones damn near black and the other one is light gold colored. The gold one is definitely the dominant fish and steals the others food. So of course it is growing alot faster............

dude i bought a 2 inch jag 2 weeks ago
now he is 3 inches..

The dominant one is growing at about that rate. about a 1\2" in a week.

Their growth rates plateau at about 5-7 inches, at least the ones I've kept. After that they grow slow and steady until 12".

Mine are growing at a furious rate. Seems like Jags have a very high metabolism. They process food much faster than most fish IMO.

All of my cichlids do for some reason. All up until about 10" or so.

i picked up 4 jags all at 1"-2" and they are not growing at all .. cant figure it out .. they eat, water is clean doing w/c weekly .. only other thing in the tank is a plec 2 of the jags have died .. well i think they did .. i cannot find them ..

the fish store has picked up a few more and they are doing the same as mine .. i dont think the fish are going to make it ..

kinda think i got some fish that where soo stressed out that they wont grow ..

had the fish for 6 weeks and the 2 i can find are 2" and 2.5" which is much much slower then what i think is healthy

My water temp runs about 80-82 F

Have you tried Hikari frozen blood worms........they love it. And its very high in protein and comes vitamin encapsulated.
