Like I mentioned before I'm in the process of seeing how compatible my snakehead is with other fish before it grows up.

I've tested it with a bunch of fish so far. It's killed a spotted gar, a hujeta, a convict, a texas cichlid, and attacked a larger oscar.

I heard jaguar cichlids were very aggressive and would stand up to anything so I bought one today to go with my channa.

My channa is 6 inches, and the jag is around 6 inches, maybe slightly less.

The jag went into the channas cave, and the channa did nothing. Just looked confused and turned around a few times looking at the jag.

Then when the jag left the cave the channa rushed out and chased it, bit it twice. The jag then hid behind a filter vertically and I thought it was dead, but it's still alive, I took it out and put it with my jardini and peacock bass.

It didn't stand a chance.

Next week I'm going to buy a 7 inch dovii I've seen and put that with my snakehead. I want to see if my snakehead is compatible with something that stands up to it, so far nothing has.

if ur channa doesnt kill it, it will kill your channa.

truces are very hard to come by with aggressive fish, and when they happen they often don't last for long.

p45 I've seen stalemates between aggressive cichlids, and also channas and asian aros living together.

it's possible for the odd scuffle to break out without the fish killing each other.

And trust me it won't kill my channa :D

If I had a digicam I would make a video of this thing.

It would have to be swallowed whole to be defeated.

i didnt say it was impossible, but i won't bet on it unless the tank is deliberately overstocked

a 7" dovii hasnt even begun to show it's agression yet. why you wanna keep buying fish and wasting your money. you already know that Channa are bad ass fish. but why take these juveniles and put them in to get battered. your best bet is to get your Channa a cave and get him used to the tank and its layout. then you buy a considerably larger fish to put in with him. as long as he isnt in danger of being swallowed he should be fine and it will be much easier to get a stalemate between 2 agressive fish

I've got a 10" Jag that would give your snakehead a hard way to go.... heck he bites me, when they are 5or6" they havent really grown into their true personality.

central - sure I know channas are badass, but trust me - this albino striata I have is BAD badass. It relentlessly attacks bigger fish without hesitation. Many snakeheads accept similar size tankmates, mine doesn't, it has a grudge against anything that lives. Escept river shrimps.

years ago I owned a giant snakehead that grew to about 2.5 foot. That thing was a killer, but still didn't have anywhere near the aggression that this one has. Especially when it was a juvenile.

Mine is only 6 inches - I dread to think what it'll be like at 2 foot.

I don't enjoy seeing fish get tortured, this is not why I'm doing this, I'm trying to see if my snakehead will accept anything as a tankmate.

I might try the 7 inch dovii, and if that gets mauled I'll try something much bigger. Any suggestions?

Bear in mind though, my channa is a killer but he IS still a juvenile. Usually hides when I come near the tank.

The tank is bare about from gravel and 1 cave for my channa made of driftwood and rock.

take the cave out, there won't be any territory it can claim?

put some decor in the tank....first off, what size tank is it?.....get him somewhere to hide and introduce a 8 or 9" tri mac or midas cichlid. they are pretty tough customers and should handle your Channa for a while. if you want a dovii get one that is gonna stand a chance. lots of smaller caves for your Channa that a 9 or 10" dovii cant get into. there ARE fish out there that will out and out eat a 6" Channa. you have to find a balance and sorry to say you more than likely will end up with dead cichlids if hes been in the tank before they are introduced. the cichlids will have to be larger and aggressive to get along with your Channa. if the tank is large enough, a large FH or super red synspilum in the 12" range would be ok as long as your channa had lots of places to dash to in times of trouble!
