Hi
Im Doug from Australia.Im new to monster fish although Ive been keeping smaller cichlids for 30 years.currently I have mostly killifish(good snacks did you say??)I have recently aquired a 32 cm Jaguar that killed its prior tank mates in a number of homes. It's by itself in a 100 gallon tank.I would like advice on feeding(apart from killifish!!)Im aware he only needs feeding 2-3x per week. Can he eat meat like chicken or beef??Currently he has earthworms and pellets(Which make a mess).Any other tips would be greatfully recieved.

Fish have issues breaking down mammalian fats, so if you feel it's necessary try to get very lean meat like beefheart.

Toss in some yabbies. He'll love those. ;)

mine have

90% of there food is Cichlid Gold / Staple

but they do love

Squid
raw prawn
Garden Worms [like you said]

^ all of these are fed very little, im a big fan of pellets :naughty:

enough for him to eat in a minute and a half or so.. u will know if you have fed him too much coz there will be food left floating in the tank, i wouldn't feed him any meat and wouldn't bother feeding killifish either, just pellets would do nicely to begin with, if he doesn't accept the pellets to begin with dont feed him anything else just keep on introducing the pellets .. he will eat them when he's hungry enough and then eventually will get used to them, i feed my jag every day even though they can easily go without food for 2 days or so :)
