would a jag maybe get on with my oscar and green severum and flagtail there is silver dollars as dithers im lookin at one slightly bigger and slightly smaller than my fish if it wont work what size tank would it need for just it self

it all depends on how big your tank is...

IMO a jag would need a 6x2x2 if kept as a solo fish for life

hi mate, you need to state tank size, but iam going to say no at this time, i have a male jag which grew up with my two oscars the oscars were 6inches he was 2inches,,,,1.5yrs was perfect, then one day he went evil, hes in a tank alone now, tried him friday with a salvini and a midas/devil fine for 1hr then boom attack attack,,,the others are fine, as i removed them, but knew what i was looking for and what will happen next, salvini was fearing for its life right up in top corner of tank,any higher would of got and pushed lid off and walked out

ok thankyou very much for everyones help my lfs store has a 6 inch male for 25 dollars they realy dont no what it is so i thought id try

it could still be ok so long as you know you'll have to remove either the jag or its tank mates in time.

it ALL depends on tank size.

It will all depend on the aggression level of the jag. Some are mellow most are not. So far my jag has'nt been a problem with my other cichlids.

its a 75 gallon with a 4 inch albino oscar and a 6 inch green severum and 3 inch flagtail and 4 2 1/2 inch silver dollars i dont think it would work would 25 dollars be a good deal or worth gettin rid of or risking my fish

$25 is a good deal for a 6" Jag.

In a 75 gallon he would most likely destroy them and claim the tank for him own. Maybe not the first day, first week or first month, but the day would come with such limited space.

I had to separate my 5" jag from a blue acara, oscar, convict, carpintis and pleco. He was getting mental on them except the oscar since it is 10". This was in a 125g tank. Jag is now solo in a 55g but will eventully end up solo in the 125g when I get a 8ft tank.
