I was going to get a jaguar cichlid but at the time it was too much and i am going to get one next week.

i want to know some general facts i know they can be aggressive and need a big tank i have 150 gallon with one Oscar fish.

The facts i need to know are:

Size
What they eat
What fish they eat

and any other general facts

thanks

a male jaguar cichlid can reach 18" but its more common to see them at 14-16" and that size tank will be fine for one however i think that it may be too aggressive for an oscar though you may get lucky and have one that is totally fine with it. in the wild they are open water predators and will eat anything that hits the water or that they can catch (and they are really fast so their isnt much they wont eat) an oscar is big enough though but jags have really large mouths (larger than most cichlids' mouths because of its shape, my small jag is a tad smaller than my festae yet still has a larger mouth) but in the home aquarium they will do fine on pellets and the occasional treat, though with them its really important to only feed live insects and not live fish as they can get addicted to them easily and then wont want to eat their regular food, these guys are great fish that look awesome and have tons of attitude you definitely wont regret going with one they are awesome

I have a juvenille male jag, and he definetly has to be the coolest fish I've owned. Right now he's about 5 in. and his personality is really started to show. I'm feeding him pellets, with an occasional bloodworm treat. He also seems to go nuts over meal worms.
