How hard is your water- TDS, dGH? This is common in Apistogramma sp. that prefer softer water; it might be the case here.

He is too inexperienced yet.. the water conditions are causing eggs to fungus.. two females..?

I've wondered if it is two females, but their patterns fit male/female patterns (I think). Maybe it is the water. My TDS are like 215 out of the tap, I am going to use ro/tap mix for my discus pairs maybe when I start that I will try it with them too.

have you ever vented them to be sure..? This is the only true way of knowing.. even patterns and fins are not always accurate.. they are merely quesses ... it is easier to correctly after they are mature.. but still a quess... if you know for certain only one has been laying eggs then most likely a male.. but my thoughts are pointing in the direction that you have two girlsView attachment 414335Two beautiful jags..

110 percent 2 females bro..
notice how both have a round body? that is the dead giveaway. males are usually longer and have a more striking pattern.
goodluck
