i have an 8 in jaguar in a 55 all by himself, i have only had him about 2 months.the only thing i can get him to eat is superworms and rosies. I don't think this is the best diet for him. anyone got any ideas??
i have tried pellets, goldfish, flakes, shrimp, and everything else i can think of :screwy:

starved him for 4 days, still picky

keep starving him, keep offering pellets every day and scoop them up after a while and try again the next day

i am by no means an expert but i have had this problem with my lutino oscar and i will tell u what i was told no healthy fish will let themselves starve to death. i have seen my stubborn oscar go 13 days without eating then he finally brokedown and starting scarfing pellets as if they were his favorite food.

I have starved a fish for a month and it was fine.

A big healthy fish can go for a while without eating....stick in there...you CAN get jags of off live food. Mine was on 100% live @ 12" and i got him to the point where he will eat WHATEVER i offer.

thanx for the help, starvation it is. he has already been fasting since i started this thread, i throw in a couple of pellets a day and take them back out a coupla hours later, i guess we will see how long it takes.

hes a tip for pellets dip them in garlic juice helps get their attention sometimes this will help.
i've used fish feramones (sp) didnt work a little garlic did though..

My 3" or so Jag was being a little bastard too. I had him eating freeze-dried shrimp, pellets, raw shrimp, an occasional thawed pea, and blood worms. I then tried getting 10 Zebra Danios to live with him...he finished them in 3 days, but when they were gone it took a week to get him back on his healthy diet. Just wait it out. He went without eating anything substantial for like 5-6 days.
