Jaguar laying eggs

I have a female jag and a Texas cichlid. Texas is eating the eggs... I'm guessing they r not spawning together. Why is she laying eggs then???

Even if there is no male present some fish will just lay eggs. Female convict have a nasty habit of doing exactly the same thing
