Will a 2.5"-3" jd survive with a smaller sized jag? I'll wait till the jack grows bigger like 4"-6" then I'll buy a small jag. My tank is going to be a 120 or larger and I want to know will the little tiny jag kill my extremely aggressive jack because he is a complete douche to my other jack and I want a fish that can fight back and defend itself against this jack and every option is pointing to jags. Is there any other highly aggressive fish that can survive the jack and possibly bully him or keep him in line. I just want something temporary or possibly permanent to keep my jack in line. I can get rid of it when older or larger.

Most likely your jack will be in line with a bloody Jagua in the tank lol...have you seen the teeth on them things? I have seen jags rip flowerhorns apart....and flowerhorns are damn strong being a hybrid and all.... as far as ive seen, Jags are very very ferocious!

red devils will also do that job

When fish are fighting time to seperate. Cichlids either get along or don't get along. All my years of fishkeeping its the same they either fight or don;t fight there is no magic to it. I became tired of it so I only keep non - agressive fish and enjoy them a lot more.

K so I just got another jack dempsey which I think petsmart screwed up on because it was bigger than the $8 ones and it was only $3.50 and I will see how this goes as far as behavior and aggression. But I will look into getting a jag because I love them and their feeding habits I believe it was a jag my uncle had once in a 75 but it was like 6" at the time with his 14" tiger Oscar and it was bullying it so he had to remove it. But anyways the new jd is like if not the same size maybe bigger than my current douche one and he is even attacking my finger in the bag! He is just what I need. But don't worry I will get rid of one if I don't believe it will survive. And because I dont think you can keep three in a 120

I have a jag about 4-5 inch in with 4 oscars ( 2 smaller then the jag and kick his ass) flowerhorn, red terror and sds. The jag is most likely the weakest fish in that tank now that the angels are out, I think jags are all talked up even my breeding pair with fry dont come any where close to my older flowerhorns.

My jacks are a bit smaller and share a tank with umbee, choco and a con and one jack is a bit of a fighter but he always get told off by the umbee.

Id say you would be fine, people over here even keep jags and jacks in oscar/ serv tanks all the time and it goes fine long as the tanks not a midget. They mind there own business more and wont attack anyone else they come to there little area or hits them first from what I have seen, else you have 2 jags that causes some issues. you wont be able to find out until you try it, Maybe I have crazy luck but I have 5 inch vieja living with a 24 inch jardini and I bet if you asked that Q here everyone would say no lol.
