So I have a jaguar, red terror, green terror, and a yellow African all in a 33 there all babies around 2 inches now the jag is around 3. ( the girlfriend seen the "yellow one" and wanted it lol ) there doing good but i cant wait to move them into my 180 ( 6x2x2 ) it just started cycling. So I'll move them into that in a few weeks. Anyways all I'm wondering is what successful tank mates has everyone kept jaguars and red terrors with? How big of tank etc!

All depends on the jag. He'll get the biggest and most dangerous. It helps that he's growing up with them but if its a male then you'll probably wanna move some fish. I know my male jag will, and has always killed every fish I put him with. Female jag would be easier until she lays eggs.

African cichlids dont go well with CA/SA cichlids. Your gf would be dissapointed seeing it go back to a lfs or probably beaten up pretty badly by the others

i keep a school of tinfoils in my tank and they are bigger than my jags and texas. They are all in one tank and occasionally get territorial, some fights with fish missing scales or torn fins. But jags can do some heavy damage with their mouth. I've kept my jags with clownknifes before as well.

My jags in with my jardini aro , various catfish , birchir , recently got a pacu but they had a bit of a scrap but settled in fine now , I ended up with my jag looking for tuff tankmates to go with aro , had loads of other cichlids and failed he killed them all except the jag he's 10" now and a beast.
You'll prob want to swap the African cichlid or the "yellow one " will end up jag food , as for the RT if you manage to grow them up together and they don't kill one another they mite be ok long run , just try it you never know till you do good luck

If anything the yellow african would help spread the aggression out. I currently have an over 7" jag with 2- 5" festaes, convict, and green archer cichlid in a 8ft tank. As long as he gets his 4 feet on the left side, and the get out of his way when he goes into their area, the other fish are left alone.

Obviously the jag is the dominate one, but next in line is the African, and then the red terror and then the green terror, I keep them well fed Nd they all understand the jags the boss, but there doing well together I was told this mix wouldn't work but there doing well in the 33 I can only see it being better in the 180,

The African will be fine for s while they can hold there own with fish twice there size , once the jag gets four times its size it'll be in trouble though , my growout tank has got a mad mix in it but you've just gota try stuff out , once in 180 they'll be ok for long time they've all got a lot if growing to do

Yep, pretty much how mine run the tank as well. If they get annoyed they will flare and bump off the fish.
