I know this isn't groundbreaking stuff but my male Jag just bred with my convict, and I have a few questions I was hoping someone could help me with. My first question is should I separate the mother and father? Its just them in a 30 gallon grow out, but neither fish has got the size to safely move to my 220 yet. The mother has gone from victim to victimizer since she laid these eggs and now has the jag completely across the tank against the glass while she diligently maintains the fry. For what it's worth I don't think he is much of a threat to the fry, since the fry hatched he has been very defensive about anyone coming close to the tank. He makes aggressive gestures if you approach and if you don't back up he goes into wild flights all across the tank. I also think he's okay with the distance he's kept at, the convict doesn't do any real damage, just comes over to peck him every so often. I am also a bit concerned about my cons head. She's got a white patch above her eyes that I just assume came from all the digging and gravel maintenance she has been doing recently, but just in case it may be some kind of fungus someone is familiar with I posted the best picture I could get of her. Any knowledge anyone could pass on would be greatly appreciated, I'm planning on growing a few of these guys out so I can see the results, so any information that could help ensure their success would be awesome. Oh I forgot one thing. I was curious if two female fish ever lip lock when fighting. I have a red devil in the other tank I was hoping was a female but he's been going at it with a 100% female JD for a few days now.
