Wow, I noticed at feeding time tonight, my black shark(13 inches) was smacking my jag(10inches) around so hard, I could actually hear the impact of fish on fish standing back 3 feet from the tank. Im not happy about this as they are probably my 2 fav fish. People talk about cichlid agression, geeze, black sharks really have a chip on their shoulder. Beats on everything in my tank.

Well balas are a pain in the *** when it comes to feeding they go after any thing food, fish, decorations as long as its no longer than feeding it shouldnt b a problem

No its not a bala, black sharks are much different from bala's. Balas will dart and run into things out of skiddishness or fear, black sharks are really much more agressive fish than a bala shark. It is alot worse during feeding time. You might have a point there.

Bala sharks?

I had a 10-12" black shark that I got with a used tank I bought. It may have been the most aggressive fish I ever owned. I had it with smaller fish(4-6")until I got rid of it, but it was relentless in chasing the other fish. With the other fish being smaller they were able to out manuver the black shark. Not sure what you could do other then seperating it from the others.

Separate them into different tanks, or get a divider.

Well Id probably have to seperate the shark from everything because the only fish he never picks on is the red devil, they seem to kind of have some kind of understanding.

Its a bummer too, they really are a beautiful fish, especially when they get big, just spectacular. Their temper's seem to match their grace though unfortunatly.
