I set up a 25g two months ago, it has been cycling since then. The tank will be running an Eheim Aquaball. I will set up a CO2 system in a few months (when i can afford). First the tank will have mostly simple plants (Valisneria, Anubias, Java moss, Java fern etc etc). I will keep a bunch of shrimps in there, a few corydoras and hopefully a pair of bolivian rams. The tanks lighting is not so good and i will get better bulbs when i can afford.
If the tank turns out to look good and process well i will propably turn my 100g into a planted also.
Pics of the tank, bare bottom now, i will pick up gravel this week.

if you're gonna do planted get some type of aquasoil. what type of lights are you running? you can get some pretty cheap t5s that'll help the plants

The bulb is rather old so the letters are kind of washed out. It says:
Swanni either L 8w T8 or 18w T8.

What is aquasoil?
I am gonna use plant nutritions.

Aquasoil is Takashi Amano's planted substrate. It works wonders on most plants - but it's expensive.

It's probably not even available in Iceland. Mineralized top soil would be a better choice. It's cheap to make and works really well.

Keep us updated.

Found a 45kg. bag of sand (90lb) and right now i am cleaning it. I wont put it all in because its way to much, i think i will also add a bit to my 100g.

Pics when i have put the sand in.

Try and get hold of seachem flourite as your substrate

Nope. Not for now. It is way to expensive. Sorry about the tank not being so interesting with no high tech gear. haha. A 7kg bag of Florite gravel is priced on $45. Because of the icelandic currency the dollar is very high so it is more like $70 a bag.
