What is the minimun and what would be the optimal size for a jaguar tank? I've done a few searches and nothing came up. I know they grow to be about 16-18 inches so the tank would atleats have to be 18 inches wide at the bare minimun but preferably 24. I have heard some people say 240 for one but that seems a bit big for a fish that grows to be less than 20 inches. Could someone please explain this to me? Cause i dont want to get this guy then run around trying to find a tank to upgrade him in i'd rather have the rite size tank from the begining so i have less headaches. Thanks
 
I have a 9 inch male jag in with a 7 inch female and they have more than enough room in my 4x2x2. 6x2x2 would make a wicked jag tank though.;)
 
So atleats a 125 for 2 and a 180 gallong preferably. So would it be safe to say i could get away with a 80 gallon for 1 single jag 48x21x18 lxhxw?????
 
I've seen a beautiful specimen brought up in a 75G. He was around 14" and seemed to be doing quite well. There was some serious filtration on the tank though.
 
Well if i do go this rought i have an extra Acquaclear 110 and an XP3 for this tank. Would that suffice?
 
75gallon 4'x 18"x21" is the bare minimum for a single male jaguar (14"-16"). Keep in mind the tank would almost be no decor and with good filtration. (like xp3 and ac500) or (xp3 and emp400). Also keep up the waterchanges at once a weeks doing at least 75% to 80%. or do bi-weekly if you have time to spare.;)
 
Well when i mean bare mininmum i mean something that will get the fish by until they are a little before full grown then once they are full grown he'd probably be in a 125
 
a standard 125 is 18"wide wich i think will be fine to house an adult jag. im waaaay overstocked right now with a jag, 3 oscars,2 dempseys and a catfish in my 125. people still have no idea how much cleaning i have to do to keep that tank looking pristine, but i manage. somehow i have almost zero aggresion. they all seem to be friends.
