okay i know i asked this question a while ago but i cant find the thread

i have like a 5 inch oscar i think i havnt seen it since the begining of the summer my dad is taking care off it and he is at work so i cant ask him to measure it
i think its 5 inches so yeah illmeasure it for sure on monday thats when i go home

but i despetly want a jar in this tank

my question is wat size jar should i go get to go with the oscar in a 55g growout???????????
thanks guys

I wouldn't put the two of them together.
VERY FEW sucess stories with that combo.
Mostly tragic results.

This isn't exactly an easy combo to work out and a 55g won't last all that long. You can check out my thread only a couple down titled jar and o rnd3 last attempt.... IMO this is a trial and error situation where not everyone will get the same results. In my experience the oscar has been the aggressor so I would reccomend getting a 6" jar with a 5" oscar. But if you happen to have a more timid oscar or a more agressive jar you might need the sizes swaped or soo... I would put a decent amount of furnishing in the tank to help give seperate hiding error and things to breack line of sight. Ie tall drift wood air stones tall plastic plants etc. But just so you know this is a tuff one!

okay any one else have some suggestion

also this is a custom tank very short and very wide its almost like a short cube

i have a 180g with a jar a silver aro 2 oscars a peacock bass and 3 bichirs
they all get on fine.
both aros are over 16" the oscars are about 12" the peacock bass about 8" and the bichirs all over 13".
i know i am lucky but i had the oscars for about 2 years with various other fish, i introduced the jardini when it was about 5" and all seemed fine.
the silver was the biggest risk a i added him when he was about 10" and the jardini about 8". it has been about 4 months now with no probs.

my jardini pwned my 2 oscars one died the other i nursed back to health
oscars are little girls compared to jardini, but if you have your aggresion spread and similar sized fish it can be ok...
IMO jardini are more placid below about 10 inches mine tolerated alot of tankmates until he grew up abit.

ive seen it before, it could work but only in a huge tank
