always wanted to keep a jar since i got into fish keeping. ive setup a 5x2x2'4inch tank.i will be seting up as a native predatory tank. here is my stocking list without a jar.

1x Cichlid(can't tell which one shhhhhhhh)
3x Silver Scat
2x Australian Bass
1x Mangrove jack.
1x Flathead.

id only be keeping scats, bass and cichlid for life. i would like to purchase a small jar once my bass get a litle bit bigger. is it possible to keep a jar in a a tank of this size. its not for life it would be till it reaches 1-1.5 foot than i would sell it. i know i can as there is a huge demand for adult jars and they sell for heaps. i dont care how much money i make/loose (to a certain extent) i just want to keep it. so is it possible to keep a jar in tank of this size with this fish stock?

It is possible considering you will be selling it before its full growth.I would be more worried about the Mangrove Jack. The Jardinis temper has nothing on the Mangrove Jack. The Jack will destroy everything in that tank once it has some size.

hmm will see. i got to take following into considerations and here are my circumstances. i basically have two options.

a friend of mine is going to cairns to get fish some on the list like jack and flathead(if there are any in freshwater(i doubt it)

either i go brackish and have the original list and add a bream and a tarwhine and a toadfish and flathead(the one on the list) or i stay fresh. w/c's are easier with fresh. if i go fresh original list(if the flathead cant go fresh than it aint going in) and have a jar.

for life that would be crammed they get around 2 foot in aquariums depending on size in wild max out at 90cm. go 7x3x2H.

Alright.

But you keep keep it in there till it gets about 55cm? and it would take a while for it to get that size from 15cm yeah?
