So, I really want to get a Jardini after watching countless vids on youtube.

But my question is, how long could a Jardini live a 4x2x2? I'm guessing until its about 22-23'' correct?
How long would it take for the Jar to grow that size, I read atleast 4 years, sometimes shorter sometimes longer for them to get to that size.

Thanks...

IMO, ideally, you want at least the width to be 1x the length of an aro and the length to be 3x the length, so that would mean length limited to 16 inches, but you could get a way with it being a little longer, i think. I don't think it will take that long to get to that size, maybe a 2-3 years from what I've heard.

2-3 years is pretty long time.
Good enough for me.
I just want to grow out an aro, if only for a little while.

The jar's I'm looking at are about 5-6'' are very robust.

the 2' width has no advantage with a tank that is only 4' long, other than more water volume theres not much of an advantage over a 75/90g. because the tank is 4', i would say you could grow the jar till its around 18". year to year and a half, and expect a pretty banged up nose in a 4' tank, jars are pretty skittish.

Hmm.
What about a 150? 5x2x2?

The jars I've looked at aren't very skittish, maybe one or two in the tank was skittish, the others were calmly swimming around sometimes stopping to look at me.

if you have the right tank mate Jar could be friendly... i currently have a jar that's 15-16"

6x2 is the bare minimum IMO. My jar hit 22" when he was 4. Currently he is a bit larger but uses every bit of my 300. They like their space. one would live in a 4x2, but it's definitely not ideal when they get big. The last thing you want is an unhappy arowana. Unhappy= on the floor. They're extremely powerful, and I wouldn't put it past a 20" Jar to break a 4x2x2.

That size tank would make a great growout tank for a few years, but would not be suitable long term.
