Allrighty so here's what I'll be getting a juvi jardini what tank mates should I throw in there? I was thinking of doing a sand bottom. Some driftwood fake plants. I really love eels but idunno if the jar will try to jump a fire eel or tiretrack. Also I want a school of bala sharks anyone see problems arising with this stock or anyone have some other suggestions I prefer eels over bichirs but if the eel doesn't work out I will get an ornate bichir

Probably none depending on the individual's temperment, but normally they are rediculously aggressive and won't tolerate any tankmates, though there have been a few exceptions. If you want a community tank with an arowana, you will have much better luck with a silver or black arowana, they are normally very mild mannered toward other fish as long as their tankmates aren't too small (though they will often become quite hostile toward other aros) .

Bichirs are good tankmates

Not if the jar is aggressive (like 85% of them are).

But if any fish has a chance of peaceful existance with a jar its a big bichir

Only problem I have as will the other aros fit in. Like that's why I chose the char because he is smaller.
Yes IMO, but there are a few people on here who would disagree, but I have a 20 inch silver in my 220 that is doing fine so far.

I can imagine an adult jar easily beating the crap out of a bichir. The only fish I would risk putting with a jar is a common, snow king, or adonis pleco.

I once had a 10" common pleco with my 15" jar few years ago, they were fine for couple months then one day I woke up and the pleco disappeared from the tank:eek:
