I wanted what type of CA/SA cichlids would do best with a jar.
I know the jars are agressivse and will kill other tankmates and chew up the fins of the other fish.
Also i heard some people on mfk house jars with tankmates and what type of fish will do good:).

so yep

this is for the near furture once i have a bigger tank!

Jars are EXTREMELY aggressive!!!
As soon as they hit the 10" mark you would wake up
with just a jar my freind!!!
The only thing that i can suggest may survive with one
is potentially a LARGE oscar who can defend himself small
ones are no good as mine tore them apart one night!!
Hope this helps

i've kept blood parrots with 13-14 inch jardini, but they were in the tanks since the Jar was 5 inch..at that time i only had 75 gallon tank so i ended up selling him so i can't comment on what would have happedned when Jar got bigger..

At a LFS in a 120 gallon tank, I've seen this 2 footer of a Jar housed with small red parrots no more than 5 inches long. The jar completely ignores them. So it all really comes down to how lucky you are with your jar. Most will never ever be able to coexist in a tank and a few will. It's the sad truth. A large tank with fish around the same size will help. Another thing I've seen people do, is raise the jar with the other fish from when they were both fry.

i think you will be fine
i have a 165 gallon tank with 3 blood parrots.6-8".. a TSN 16'', and a clown knife fish 21''...andlast but not least a jardini arowana 15''
