A while back I bought a little baby Jardini and have been growing it out. In the meantime, I found an awesome Dovii and bought it too. Now my dilemma is that the Dovii now occupies what was the Jardini's future tank. The Dovii is a mean glass banging SOB but is ok with certain tankmates. Jardini's are unpredictable killers in my understanding and might kill the Dovii and everyone else.

Ok to the point...I like the Dovii and don't want to sell him. Should I try to keep the Jardini with the Dovii or sell it? It's only a 265 gallon tank so I probably don't have enough space for both anyway.

Give it a shot. Chances are it wont work, but there's only one way to find out. Keep in mind that if you do try you'll be lucky to have one beat the other up, it'd probably be a death match.

That's what I'm afraid of but that's what I thought about putting a bunch of cichlid tankmates with him and no probs for now. I guess you're right....you never know with fish until you try. Do you think the tank is big enough? (7' x 2' x 30")

Yea, it'll house either one of them for a very long time, possibly life. If for some reason they become "buddies" they'll both be ok in there for a very long time

IMO-
Tank is plenty big enough man-

I use to keep my female dovii with my jardini-Dovii was approx.7 inch and jar was a 12 to 13 inch specimen-

Had them housed in my 90 gal standard for about 4 months before I lost them due to a water change-There was some aggression at first man-But once they settled their little dispute on territory-Things calmed down greatly-
I had black sand and seperated territories by driftwood......Worked out great until death.......I was planning on upgrading both--But for the time being I would go ahead with your plans.....
