I have been keeping my jardini for months now and he is growing healthy and big!! He is currently being stored with a catfish!! But I have always been a huge fan of the vegetarian pirahna!! I understand the ultimate size and space they require and I have that in abundance lol!! But the question is can they live in the same tank together?? This has been puzzling me for a time now and would like to clear all this up!!

Many thanks

They can live together but the tank need would be huge somewhere in the 500+ gallon range and that may even be a low estimate. I have owned 3 pacus in my life and one live a healthy life and never grew past 18 inches but lived a very long life the the other 2 wouldnt stop growing. The tank needs to have thick glass as they are one of the most powerful fish ive ever seen in the hobby. But yes it can be done as long as you can afford a home large enough

pacus tend to be to 'chewy' for aros...imo...not only that, but your jar most likly will try and kill it...if you can find a pacu that will get along and not nip your aro it could work...after you find that one in a million pacu you will have to see if your jar will not kill it...i have seen first hand a 2' jar tring to kill a 1/2 dozen 4-5' aussy lungfish so just cause it is bigger doesn't mean you are safe...
