Hey guys I'm new to keeping jardini arowana so I was wandering if it is natural for them to randomly start jumping? He'll do it two or three times then stop, and sometimes he darts across the tank. And just to add there are no loud noises spooking him and the water is perfect.

What size is your jardini, what size tank and any tank mates? Also I'd guess you've already made sure it's not some insects occasionally landing on the lid?

He is 9inches long currently in a 36 inch long, 18inch wide and 24inch high or if you use CM, 91cm long, 46cm wide and 61cm tall

But we will be getting a bigger tank that is 78inchX25X26 or 200cm long, 70cm wide and 70cm tall, this tank will come in a week

Aros will jump. Small ones esp if spooked. Provide some floating plants and dim the lights.

That's great you'll be getting a bigger tank soon; not sure if current tank size is stressing him out (depends also if he has tank mates), but he's going to grow fast and will appreciate that larger home.

Until you get the new tank set up I would follow kno4te's advice.

Yea I never have any lights on, where I live it is always cloudy so the arowana only ever is exposed to grey dim light, and when the big tank comes in I will have water lettuce floating around. Also will a fire eel be ok to house with the arowana?

Should be fine with a fire eel.
