JARDINI BREEDING SEASON - WHEN IS IT?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I got my Jar as a baby (2") exactly this time last year. He is now 16 in. and mean. So I'd say it was about a month ago.

I'm on the East Coast and the 2 local lfs has them now 2 1/2" $69, I picked up 4 and have them in a 125gal, so far so good. I know I'll have a problem when they bigger

its usually summer/spring for breeding or shipping season

Breeding season should be Summer/Spring which is very soon (Nov - Jan)
In 2-3 months there should juvies avaliable for sale

But we do have dams/farms that breed them as well

Im awaiting the season to raise one up from scratch

Interesting. Info I have read has said that their breeding season starts in winter but I will correct myself and note it continues through spring:)

Juvies have been available for the last 5 mths in Brisbane, Qld and we are still in spring now so they must breed earlier then summer.
I wonder if it varies any depending on region?

go type ausyfish into your search engine and check out the saratoga link. october and onwards i think..takes eight weeks so most small ones are probably sold by january.

Thanks :) That places the season in spring but they only breed leichardti and not Jardini as I understand. The OPs Question was on Jardini:)

On a side note, I am curious to know what others consider the breeding season? For me it is when the Jardinis start to congregate and do the deed and not when they are available on the market. From the time you buy that juvie in the shop a few months have past since the parents bred.:)
