Hi,

I already looked through a few seemingly similar topics, such as the arowana disease guide and so forth, but found nothing that relates much to this. Google is throwing me off, too, throwing diseases that mainly goldfish and pond dwellers experience.

Anyway, so I have had a Jardini fry for two weeks, and up until last week he was in pristine condition, yellow/orange scales, and his fin colours were starting to come in. He was[and still is!] eating healthily and swimming.

Recently, though, after putting a bag of the carbon.. rocks? into the filter, he's started developing a black sort of growth on the top of his head/back. I removed the carbon immediately upon noticing, and changed the water, but the darkness is still present. I was advised to put an anti-ich formula into the water by my local pet store, but haven't taken action yet.

(The issue shouldn't be the water quality. I read that fish can develop a blackness due to dirty water, but his is changed every morning 70%, after his body has processed the food from the day before)

He is in a tank similar to http://www.google.com/products/cata...alog_result&ct=image&resnum=1&ved=0CDIQ8gIwAA# with that exact same filter. The carbon was not intended for this filter, but I made an amateur mistake and did something without thinking about it.

Please help?
P.S. Sorry if this is in the wrong forum/topic/area. :nilly: This site is huge.

Sorry, I don't know how to edit the main post.

I'd just like to add that the murkyness that appears present in the photos is actually due to the quality of the webcam I was taking pictures with, and the cheap plastic that the tank is made out of. This was only a temporary home, but at only two inches, he's still got plenty of room for now.

Thanks in advance.
