anyone see anything wrong with growing a 2-3 inch jardini in a 10 gallon until he reaches maybe 4.5 to 5 inches? i want to grow him out in my 75 gallon to be moved to my bigger tank later but when i got him he was smaller then what i thought and afraid my payaras would eat him so i put him in a 10 gallon. my hopes are to get him to say 4.5-5 inches and move him to the 75 gallon then raise him to 8-10 inches and put him in my 150 with my dorado and red devil and a couple pikes.

keep up on water changes and have good filtration and i'm guessing you'd be ok.
I'd do small daily water changes though.

focker - until 5/6 inches then yup, should be fine. If possible though, I'd find a cheap 30 and grow him out in that.

Not because of space, purely because of water mass. A 10 gallon is just so small, it's hard to keep the water in tip top shape, especially being that you don't want incredibly powerful pumps in there, stressing the small jardini.

You'd have to do daily water changes on a 10 gallon. With a 30 and an eheim canister and spraybar, for gentle flow, you could do weekly water changes.

Essentially I bet he'd grow faster in a slightly bigger tank, and you'd have less maintenance.
