Well its a 5x2x2 how long could i keep a Jardini in there?

He will be the only Fish in there.

I have a Marathon Pro 2000 External and im going to be adding a FX5 soon i worry as Juwels filters are crap.

depending on what size you get him at id say go for it it will last a few more years if you get a juvinile
big and small the are generaly the same price due to the fact that they are not as highly prized as asian aros
i have a 14" jar in a 72"x18"x30"(165 g) he and his mates will be good for about a year and thats it the they go into a 300gallon
people are going to tell you that you need a 6'x4'x4' tank and that is worth thousands
even when custom built.......
so in the end if you dont eventually want to get a tank that big the jar may not be for you
dont let anyone discourage you from doing this...as i said if you buy small you have a few years so start savin for the big one
have agood day and i hope this helps a little

I owned a large 18" one before and it killed my pride and joy 30" RTC and i still loved it till the day i moved in my flat lol

I got rid of it after leaving the 8x4x2 in my dads brick out house for about a month.

I still have the tank so once i move i can put him in there.

I kept one by itself in a 8x4 with one large sailfin plecostomus for 3 months and had never been happier with my tank!

I only have this crappy little juwel tank cos im upstairs lol

i had a jar in a 5'x2'x2.5' and got to 18"-20" but he was solo.

thats shocking..... 18" compared to 30" is quite a size difference. ive never owned an rtc but i've heard they're fairly hearty and able to hold they're own.

I have kept a jardini in such size tank until the fish almost hit 24 inches. It's possible to keep a solo fish in there with some bottom dwellers which I did. My filtration is doubled after it hit around 16 inches.;)

He should be okay in there for a long time. I'm pretty sure a lot of asian people keep asian arowana in 5x2x2 for life so the jardini should be good. Adding the FX5 will do the job too. Hopefully it's not too long before you can set up that 8x4x2.
