I think I have pretty much narrowed down my top two choices for restocking my 75gal, which is uninhabited right now.
I know both these fish will not be able to stay in a 75gal for life, or even more than a year... but they will provide me with an excuse to exchange the 75gal for a 150gal in a year or so :)

Info: standard 4'x1.5' 75gal tank
Emperor 280 & 400 filters

Looking for some comments/opinions! I've never had a puffer before, but I kept a freshwater stingray for awhile so I know I can provide the water quality. I've had a couple silver arowanas as well.

My fahaka is like a puppy dog, I vote for that. IF you really are going to upgrade. A lot of folks run into hard times & never get to do that.

i like both but id swing to the jardini cause i like monster graceful fish..but on the other hand fahakas are puppy dogs so as long as you can maintain its all you good luck.

I would say no to the jardini, 150 gallon is still too small for a full grown jardini. Go with the puffer.

I'd say Fahaka since the jar isn't even an option. For a jar, you'd need to upgrade within about 5-6 months, then upgrade again within 6 more months to at least a 180 gallon.

Go with the puffer as the jar are boring. Sure they can jump but it's fun to feed the puffer. If you are planning to get a arowana get a gold or blue.

Thats i choice i hope i dont have to make. I want both those fish. However feeding a 20 inch long puffer 3 full sized ($10 each) crays has really kept me from emptying my 100+ gal tank and getting one.

The jardini would probably be cheaper to feed if any of that is a concern to you, since you wouldnt have to have snails or other hard shelled things on hand.

My fahaka eats earthworms, people shrimp, scallops, mussels, oysters & whatever I find cheap n the fish dept of my produce store. He gets a live cray every other week.
