in front of my cichla tank,IL
i have a few questions about jardini aros.
how fast do they grow and wat is their max. size
do they have similar growth rate to silvers?
and i seen 2 at the lfs. one was in a tank by itself and the other was in a tank with other fish. they were around 3-4inches mayb a lil bigger. would i be able to keep one with my pbass and silver?

i would get the jar thats in the tank with other fish. How big is your pbass? What do you mean by silver? silver arowana?

They have similar growth rates as silvers, but slow down before they do. They'll slow down when they hit 12" or so, but they're still fast growers. Mine is about 5 years old and is 22-24".

As far as living with what you have, don't count on it. There is a small chance it'll work, but more than likely if the jardini makes it to 12"+ it'll kill everything.

As said. But you can try. I have. And one of mine has adapted well to sharing the tank with other fish ( aros and catfish ). The other, on the other hand, only thing she copes with is a like sized Papyrocranus. They respect each other.

thanks everyone
i really want one. the silver aro is about 9-10 inches now and the jardini that they have at the lfs is like lil less then half of that.
and if i start it out with my 2 3inch pbass in the 10gallon for like a few weeks then put them into the 29. do u guys think that the jardini will be ok with the pbass since they r being raised from little guys together. and since the lfs had one with alot of fish and it looked peacful

Their "peaceful" until around 8" And then something snaps. So even though things may look like it's doing well...just keep an eye on them from then on out. I hear they can just snap out of no where.

i pretty much agree with everything so far.

I bought a jardini at 3 inches and after a year, it's still only 10 or 11 inches and eats a lot, but not pellets. However, I bought a 5" silver 2 months ago and it's 10" now. The silver does eat pellets, but only recently had I tried.
