i was wondering when people say that the jar is more aggressive than the silver aro what does this mean?
like when i stick my hand in the tank will it automatically bite me? and will it hurt?
does the jardini fight and kill plecos?
how would i clean the tank with a 14 inch jardine in there? (like would i have to put my hand in there and try to avoid the jar?)

Well the last Jardini I had did occasionally nip at me while I had my hand in the tank cleaning. I would equate the fish bite to a strong pinch. It's really the shock factor, because if it's the first time you won't see it coming :). He never really drew blood and maybe left a scratch once.

I can attest to the aggressiveness of a Jar when I say I've caught him multiple times with tank mates in his mouth.

I don't have the Jar anymore and the reason being, he swallowed my gold nugget plecos. The Jar was 14" at the time and the plecos was about 2". Bones and stuff ripped up his guts and he couldn't eat anymore, very ugly death that occured over 3-4 weeks.

My jar does not bite me. I think what ppl mean when they say jar is more agro is that it is not a very good community fish (i.e. tend to kill tank mates).

They usually ignore bottom dwellers, but you should make sure they are as big as or almost as big as the Jar.

Yeah, many of them just seem to get this agro attitude towards their tankmates once they reach a certain age or size.I had a small one take out an African Tigerfish but they were about the same size.

well in australia jardini and lei are solitry fish where as silver aros swim in groups in the wild

the problem with that is if a jar or lei wouldn't interact with its own kind the wouldn't breed...the problem is they need a big area of person space...most can't provid that so they fight...

it all depends on the fish itself and i rarely hear any incidents of super aggressive jars that attack there owners

The Jardini will be scared of you, you don't have to be worried about it biting you during a water change or something. When people say that the Jardini is aggressive, they are talking about it being aggressive towards other fish.

lol, my Aros and even clown loachs will nip at my hands, if i leave in the water.
