So I had my 3" jardini in my 125 for about a month and all was well. Two weeks ago I decided to move him to my 58 gallon because he would have less competition for food and I wanted to get him 100% pellet trained.
Now my 58 gallon is heavily planted, but this being an Arowana I figured he would swim on the top. Nope, it hides pretty much all day in the vegetation. Is this normal? I haven't even seen it eat yet and I'm getting a little worried.

Probably just a little bit stressed from the move. Assuming your water parameters are same as previous tank, keep the lights off for a day, then add 2 small feeder fish for him to chase. I know it's a bit counter-productive in regards to the pellets but it may give hime the confidence he needs to explore his new surroundings.

Sounds normal for a small arowana / jardini. But remember to keep well covered.

I wouldn't add small fish for him to eat, he will only come out to hunt and then retreat into hiding. Some type of dither fish may help as may adding some floating plants. Do you have any other stock in the planted tank? Can you give us a pic of the tank?

It is densely planted with lots of shaded areas. It has a couple flying foxes, buenos aires tetras, and neon tetras. I just noticed that the jardini must have eaten half my stock of neons as I'm down to 3 or 4 left.

Having a jar i've always known them for being more of a all water column dweller so if he is hanging out at under some vegetation or by the bottom it shouldn't be too much to worry bout. My jar just sits on the bottom when He sleeps but when Its lights on he is everywhere. Give it some time and he should come to

never feed live food they will get drop eye . i never fed my aro live food and now he is about 10 inches and living with fish about 4 inches.

normally jardini do not stay in the top like other aros they patrol in the middle

This, I have had a couple Silver and now a big Jardini. The Jardini has a completely different personality than Silvers and will cruise the entire tank, top, middle, and even bottom sometimes.

What's the flow like in your tank ? Get as much flow for him to swim in as poss (powerheads) , he's prob just settling in he'll come round after bit of time , my Jar does swim all over my tank top and bottom exploring so its quite normal, I do think flow is important to aros though especially if your jar becomes as active as mine has
