Hey just got a S Jardini about 30cm in a 6x2x2 with 1 oscar and 4 silver dollars.
Everything seems fine apart from every now and then my jar opens its mouth really wide and snaps it shut, im just wondering if this is normal behavior.
Thanks

Perfectly normal mines done that for years , I suppose its just giving its jaw a stretch , ive never really bothered to find the real reason for it as my jars fit and healthy and never had any probs apart from the odd scale missing or scratch

I'm pretty sure its just like when cichlids stretch there mouths outwards , keeping the jaw in full working order ready to swallow some poor fishy hahaha , good luck wuith yours how big is it ? What you feeding ?

feeding on hikari pallets and blood worms.
What would be some really exciting foods to watch it eat, i was thinking yabbies

I feed mine hikari floating sticks (only pellet he'll eat its a pain for me as they only come in 57g bags and pricey) so I also feed raw shrimp , muscles , whitebait , I don't feed live anymore but when he was growing I fed earthworm , mealworm , and silkworm but not too many as they can choke trying to digest them , only tried codfish as feeders in past exciting to watch but once they start on live food your tankmates mite be in trouble so try avoid feeders

haha yeah i think he might be already looking at my silver dollars and licking his lips, maybe ill just try and stick with the pellets

I feed my jar crickets he's can jump for them and pretty fun to watch surprisingly my jar hates feeder fish doesn't even look at them but I also feed hikari pellets and raw prawns
