Very much south..
I've posted this in the Aro Forum, but anyway..

I've noticed my Jar having something coming out of her vent ( looks, in terms of size, similar to the egglaying tubes in american cichlids )..it is pinkish..

no pix possible because my camera is unavailable.

She swimms and eats ( albeit less )..

Her atitude has changed, she has not the regal demeanour she used to have, but perhaps this is just me....

this is like that, with no development, for the last 2 weks...

Any ideas? is it stuck poo? Is it a piece of gut that came out? Is it a parasite? should I try and pull it out gently?

Have increased temp and salted the water.

Thank you:)

It could be some of her gut that came out due to constipation.

What are you feeding?

Thou this is just a guess, kinda hard without pics.

This one mainly mussels and wonder worms....

Looks like gut, a lot, yes....

But she swimms and eats and prowls around the tank .....

Miguel I beleive that is a parasite is called Camillanus, sorry I don't know what treatment are though. I do some research.

Wow I just learned a new word that I have never heard !!! :) Protuberance :)

Camillanus
Camillanus is easily recognized as a small thread-like worm protruding from the anus of the fish. Control of this nematode in non-food fish is with fenbendazole, a common antihelminthic. Fenbendazole can be mixed with fish food (using gelatin as a binder) at a rate of 0.25% for treatment. It should be fed for three days, and repeated in three weeks.

this is from this website; http://edis.ifas.ufl.edu/FA041

Brian, Camillans is smallish thread ( spell? ) worm...

this looks different from what I perceive Camillanus to be...this looks like she started pooeing ( pinkish ) and it has the diameter of a good poo ( gut diameter ? hemorhoidae ? ) and it just got stuck there, at the beginning, and neither falls down nor gets reabsorbed.....

you see? A protuberant intelligence, such as yours, is atentive to the protuberances of the english language that, now and then, permeate this forum....:)

I found this here on MFK;

Arowana Disease

Protruding Anus
Cause : Bacterial infection. Intestine injury due to eating "sharp" feeders. This is quite a difficult to cure disease. Symptoms : Stomach anus becomes reds and protuding. In later stage, the fish will stop eating, the swim bladder will lose its function and the fish will be out of balance. This disease could be fatal if not treated probably. Raise water temperature to 34°C gradually (1 degree over 2 hour). Add 1% coarse salt to the water. Increase air supply to water. Do 25% water change every 2 days. Add tetracycline (yellow powder) as per the supplier written instruction. Add black water or Ketapam leaves to soften the water. Stop feeding for the time being. Do not feed feeders that have sharp edges (eg. remove the shrimp head gear before feeding it to the arowana)
