15 inch jardini.
any ideas on how to stop its tail biting habits?
its been going on for months.
i did many treatments for the tail but its no use.
why does it bit its own tail anyway??

I had a silver and a black go through this, silver wasn't very bad and stopped when added to a larger tank with another silver aro. Black took a little longer to break of this, I added lots of floating and mid water plants, it did help some. Just have to limit the space it needs to swim in circles to grab it's tail

I can't find the thread on MFK where this was discussed.

There are two possible causes for this:
1. Bacterial infection (causing irritation)
2. Boredom! (<-- this is more likely)

Suggested action is to add something to the Jardini tank to distract him or raise his interest. Dither fish is one good option. Plants and other decor is another option. (Moving him to a larger tank will also help, but it will be the change in surroundings which get him to stop rather than the extra swimming space).

I am just repeating what I have read on MFK. The experts (Brian et al) will give more effective solutions.

Good luck,
Sid

its in a 225 gallon. it could be bacterial because...well it did have black spots disease. if it is bacterial, what should I treat it with??

Check your water. How big is your tank? Tank could be to small for your Jardini, any tankmates?
