I cut my jardini's tail back in September 20, 2011 and now exactly 3 months after, it all grew back perfectly.
It had fin rot so the only way to save his tail was to cut it.
I didn't use anything to knock him out because I don't know of any drugs and don't know how to use it properly.
So I just put him in a bag with a little bit of water and lay him flat and then cut his tail with a scissor.
You need a very sharp scissors to cut a big fish tail properly. Their slime makes it impossible to cut with a dull scissor.
This fish is a very though fish, it didn't even flinch when I cut its tail.
After I cut his tail I drained my 225 gallon to about only 25% and added salt, fed it every day, and changed the water every other day.
Throughout this entire time, my jardini had normal behavior, was aggressive as before.
