Jardini tankmate

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
none. this is a long standing topic and believe me the only element to a jardini killing everything in the tank is time. at one point in its life it will decide to go columbine and wipe out everything in sight.

there are several threads buried here you can also reference on everyone's experience with Jar's

Not true at all, many people here have them w/ tank mates. It depends on the actual fish. I have mine w/ poly's and have had them all together since 5-6" and they all range from 8" to 15" w/ the Jardini being 13". I bought a 180 that came w/ a 2' Jardini that had 2 6" clown loaches that were all raised in the same tank.

There are many members w/ Jars in community tanks.

Pics of mine.

Pics of the 2'r that I had for a few days w/ 10 6-9" Indo Dats. This is the one that was raised w/ the loaches. Never even blinked at em. There were even 6" feeder comets that were never eaten in the 180.

It can work, just don't go into it expecting it to cause more often than not jardini will not tolerate tank mates. And it's not the teeth you have to worry about, it's the constant battering and harassment.

from what i know. it really depends on the temperament of the fish. but base on each individual jar they have this urge to harrass a type of fish that they don't like. i kept a peacock bass well with my bigger jar but when i put the peakcock in with my smaller jar it totally beats up the peacock. and i find that jars are more aggressive to other anabaltoids and they careless about fish that swims at the bottom of the tank..

i have a baby jar housed with 7 frontosa at the moment. he's only 4" but he takes no **** from the other fish which are much larger and he's always swimming round them showing who;s boss..its quite funny.
