my jardini keeps jumping and hitting the hood :screwy:
i am afraid that it might injure itself
the ceiling of the hood is nearly four inches high from the water surface

any ideas

How big is your tank, often the jumping increase as the aro grows and the tank then becomes smaller. Also fill the tank to reduce the gap, this will add more swimming space and lessen the severity of the collision with the top.

right now my tank is small(30g) and so is my jar (6") :D
anyways my new tank(180g) is under work just the hood and the filtration to be done
in one week they shall all be in a new place

Ya for now Just fill your 30g up and make sure the lid is secure. With the 4" of extra swimming space this should help. Getting him into the 180g will definetly help.

I think it's because your fish isn't having wnought space to swim or it's stressed or hungry just fill up the rest of the 4 inches. How are you making you 180 g tank? i was thinking of making my own tank so i can save lots of money lols

ok let me try explaining
if any doubts mail me (jibran.shariff@gmail.com)
will be happy to explain

hmmm
first comes the glass
12mm glass of the dimensions
72"x24"--> 1 piece ( for the base )
72"x24"--> 2 pieces(for the sides )
23"x24"--> 2 pieces (for the other two sides)[:p]
use silicon sealant available at the glass store
for the hood use pine wood as it is light and shall be sturdy

note:
stick the two smaller sides first to the base (you will need the help of three more people, two to hold the sides and one to help you apply the sealant to the glass)
once all the four sides placed in their place on the base, tie a small rope to hold the sides. then make sure that all the four sides are in place. then apply the sealant from the inside on all the 8 edges.(the sealant should be twice as much thick when applying at the edges when compared to the sides)and then use a hard plastic to smooth the sealant at the edges.
leave it for 24 hours at least then you can use a new blade to remove any unwanted sealant on the glass
caution: do not try to remove any sealant at the edges as the finishing may be ruined and there might be chances of leakage.

this is the best i can do at trying to explain, better results are got if you get a chance to actually see someone building one and then try to build one by yourself .
and all the best if you are going to try to build one
actually its a lot of fun.
