I plan on adding a wavemaker to my tank it does have a mixture of sand and gravel substrate I'm not sure what position the jardini thrive with on water flow. should i place the flow on top like a stream or in the middle of the tank and do I angle slightly up or forward? What your opinion?

My jardini (2years) i keep him since 13cm, and now he's 30cm.
My setup tank, barebottom, DIY Filter.
If you want to placed wavemaker or not it depends on your fish, you can try with your aro, sees if he can handle it or not. Thats my opinion bro

I dont own Jardini but I do have two asians and an albino silver baby

We have wave makers in all the tanks and they have no problem
I cant see why it would be a problem for the Jardini...

Point the wave maker to the center/ downwards of the tank at an angle that it doesnt lift the sand, this is how i have mine to lift debris from the bottom and into my filters and see how she handles it
If you see she is too small and battling a little, and you using the wave maker to push debris into your filters. start off by switching it on for and hour or so after feeding, once or twice a day.
You can increase the time as she grows and gets used to it
Once she is about 15cm, she should be fine with it on all the time

Nah

Go for a good wave maker anyway and place it on one side of the tank, almost half of your water level. Keep it horizontal, it will do the good job of removing any dead spots and moving waste towards other end. If in case your fish don't like strong current, then you can run the wave maker for short time, say half or one hour daily.
