Hello,
Over the last few weeks my Jardinis tail has had a shredded look. The rays of the fin are fine, but the membrane between them is damaged in places.
I thought maybe the pleco in the tank had been brave enough to try nibbling his tail. But after taking him out the tail didn;t heal. Then i thought somehow it tail has gotten sucked into the filter, so I moved it to make that impossible. Then miraculously the tail healed almost over night. Great success I thought. Wrong because it's come back. And rather than just being confined to its rear fin, the bottom fin is also starting to come apart in the same way.
My Jar insists on living alone it is 180Gal tank and is about 11 inches long now. Water quality is good, and gets a 50% change every other week so i don;t think it's that.
Has anyone else encountered this problem?
Thanks

No idea about most effective, but from Wiki:

In aquaria common treatments are to do a major water change, add aquarium salt if the species can tolerate it, and make sure that a healthy balanced diet with a lot of vitamins is provided.

yeah salt is good but im not expirienced enough with rays to know if its safe for them

Nor am I, but since this is an arowana... :)

I switched off the powerhead yesterday morning and today the fins have mostly healed. I think perhaps the powerhead pressure was tearing his fins when he turned round? Whichever way, he's more or less heeled and I'm well pleased :D
