Hello all,
I'm new here. Any recommendations on some tankmates for my jardini. He has been housed alone for almost a year now. He is approximately 12" in a 150 gallon tank. I appreciate any and all responses.

anything that can defend it's self

Fast swimmers like tin foil barbs or silver dollars. You can also try a large giant gouramy.... It depends on the temperament of your aro as well.

how about a syndontis cat(as long as it's big enough) or ciclids that like the same water quality

a few years back, I had a 180g housing a 20" jardini as the primary fish. Here's a list of what I had with it as tank mates...

7" Cichasoma Synspilum
7" Synodontis Angelicus
8" Soribum Lima
16" Hi-Fin Pleco
10" Leporinus Fasciatus
12" Distichodus Sexfasciatus
16" Clown Knife
Five 5" Clown Loaches

All fishes got along without any quarrels. Although keeping all these fishes in the same tank was sucessful for me, it may not be the same for you.

Considering its a 150 i'm guessing it 48"-24"24" with those measurements its unlikely you will even be able to keep this jardini in there on his own very much longer. I believe you need at least a 180 to house a Jardini and well over a 200gal to house a silver or black aro. Your main factor of this change for your aro is he's a big boy that has lived in solitary in that tank and now he's going to have new mates taking up his in my opinion too little of space. I'd possibly put a small schoal of Red Hook Silver Dollars and see how it goes but if your stuck on keepin him in the 150 i'd leave him solitary. I have a 180 with a 6"Jar with (7) 4" Red Hooks and my Jar is already kickin ass and takin names.......

jardinis are notoriouslu ill tempered. A hardy fish would be good. BPs are the only ones that have worked for me. Otherwise, everthing gets whacked big time, even the big tankmates.

it is highly ill advised to add tankmates w your jardini now.

He wld prob kill any fish that u add in. Don't waste your cash.

Thanx for the replies everyone. He is a nice fish. I was just hoping to change the tank up a bit. My tank is 6'x28"x18". At this point plenty of space. I'll leave him solo a suggested.
