I got a good amount of java moss too... if rubber band it to my wood will it begin to attach and grow on to the log?

use cotton thread instead of a rubber band.. it will dissolve when the moss is attatched. other than that just make sure you have good light. java moss is pretty hardy.

java moss is unreal when it's healthy, it'll grow extremely fast and very thick and will have an awesome lime green tinge to it..make sure u feed it, and u'll never have a prob with it. Dont plant it anywhere near filtration otherwise u'll have trouble and using flakey foods wont help either for it will get stuck in hte moss and cause it to rot!
Cant wait to see pics of it when it's all done!

Temp doesn't really matter, light, doesn't really matter, just make sure it's got enough nutrients to grow and you'll be good. I used to keep it in a tank of guppies all year long outside. I did live in San Diego at the time, but the water would regularly get and say in the 60's and sometimes the 50's. Never harmed the plant and all it did was grow like a weed. And it will attach to anything. I used it in my african tanks cause nothing bothered it and it looked cool. And it didn't mind the water hardness either. But this is my experience with it. Once it gets going though it's hard to stop. My 25 gal was filled from bottom to top.

Yea, get ready to trim it and sell it back to the store!
My friends with tanks love it when its time to trim the moss, everyone
gets a piece.

Something about that sentence doesn't sound right.

 that did sound funny, but i know what you mean, i was the first of my friends to try live plants, and now all of my friends have them in their tanks, because as the plants grow i prune them and give out pieces.
